About Erskine Hawkins
Unveiling the Storyteller Behind the Tales
My Personal Odyssey
Growing up, I was ensnared by the rich stories of my ancestors and the diverse voices that painted the world around me. These narratives became the cornerstone of my works, pushing me towards exploring the nuanced interplay of inclusion and exclusion, of embracing and alienation.
In my writings, I present a unique lens through which to view racism and various other forms of discrimination in American society. My aim is to underline the duality of discrimination— the act of excluding and the act of including— and to spotlight the persistent rhythm of societal tribalism.
To genuinely comprehend America, I believe we must grasp the societal benchmarks and the deviations from them. It’s pivotal for me to showcase that, across the corridors of time, diverse groups, irrespective of race, gender, or religious beliefs, have faced oppression’s shadow.
Beyond the confines of pages and screens, the connections I forge with you, my readers, remain dear to my heart. I always cherish our interactions, be it at events, workshops, or casual discussions, ensuring that every shared thought and emotion finds its space.
